A Mumbai-based YouTuber and eSports player recently filed a police complaint after discovering that explicit videos of him were circulating widely on social media. The 21-year-old resident of Bandra (West) learned about the incident when a friend informed him on Saturday.
According to reports, an unidentified individual gained unauthorized access to the YouTuber's home CCTV system, capturing intimate moments when he was leaving the bathroom unclothed after a shower on November 17. The hacker subsequently shared the compromising video on various social media platforms.
The Mumbai police's cyber team is actively investigating the case, employing technical expertise to trace the IP addresses associated with the illegal access to the CCTV system. Additionally, efforts have been made to request the removal of the explicit content from social media platforms.
The eSports player first became aware of the situation when alerted by a friend who noticed the viral video. In his official complaint, he detailed the unauthorized access to his bedroom CCTV camera, leading to the dissemination of the compromising footage on platforms such as Instagram and Telegram.
The police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 500 and 501 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act, including 66 (C), 66 (E), and 76 (A). Authorities are actively pursuing the investigation to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for the breach of privacy and distribution of explicit content.
