YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia Apologises for Inappropriate Remark on Comedy Show Amid Backlash

ew Delhi: Popular YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia has issued a public apology following massive outrage over his controversial remark on the show India’s Got Latent. Facing criticism from social media users and political leaders alike, Allahbadia admitted that his comment was inappropriate and not in good taste.

In a video message posted on X, the 31-year-old influencer acknowledged his mistake, saying, "Comedy is not my forte. I shouldn’t have said what I said on India’s Got Latent. I’m sorry."

He further stated, "My comment was not just inappropriate, but also not funny. I had a lapse in judgment, and it wasn’t cool on my part. I do not wish to use my platform in this way, and I take full responsibility for my words."

Allahbadia, who has a vast audience across different age groups, stressed that he does not take this responsibility lightly. He assured his followers that he had asked the makers of the show to remove the insensitive portions of the video and pledged to be more mindful in the future. "I promise to do better. I hope you can forgive me as a human being," he added.

The controversy erupted after a clip from India’s Got Latent went viral, in which Allahbadia posed a highly inappropriate question to a contestant. His remarks sparked widespread condemnation, leading to multiple police complaints being filed against him.

The backlash extended beyond social media, with political leaders weighing in on the issue. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis condemned the comment, stating, "I have been informed about this, though I haven’t watched the clip myself. I understand it was extremely vulgar, which is unacceptable. While freedom of speech is a right, it should not encroach upon others’ dignity. There are limits, and if anyone crosses them, action will be taken."

The incident has ignited discussions about the boundaries of humor and responsible content creation in the digital space.
