West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Announces Rs. 350 Crore Assistance for Farmers Under 'Bangla Shasya Bima' Scheme

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today announced the release of Rs. 350 crore directly into the bank accounts of 9 lakh farmers under the 'Bangla Shasya Bima' scheme. This financial assistance aims to support farmers whose crops have been damaged due to adverse weather conditions during the ongoing Kharif season.

Highlighting the State Government’s commitment to the welfare of farmers, Mamata Banerjee emphasized that under this scheme, farmers are not required to pay any premium for crop insurance. The entire premium for all crops, including potatoes and sugarcane, is borne by the State Government.

Since the inception of the 'Bangla Crop Insurance' scheme in 2019, the State Government has provided Rs. 3,562 crore in assistance to 1.12 crore farmers who have been affected by natural calamities.

"We have always been by the side of the farmers of Bengal and will continue to do so in the future. Jai Bangla!" the Chief Minister stated.

This announcement underscores the government’s dedication to ensuring financial security for farmers and mitigating the impact of adverse weather on agricultural livelihoods.
