New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's latest initiative under the ‘Create in India’ banner, aimed at propelling Indian cinema and content to a global stage, has garnered widespread praise from Bollywood stalwarts Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar. The initiative, which PM Modi unveiled during the final Mann Ki Baat of 2024 on December 29, will debut with the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in February 2025.
The five-day summit, set to take place at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from February 5 to 9, is envisioned as a premier global platform for Indian creative talent. Speaking about WAVES, PM Modi likened it to global events like the World Economic Forum in Davos, stating that it will foster collaborations, promote Indian content internationally, and position India as a hub for world-class content creation.
“This summit is a crucial step toward making India a global content creation hub,” said the Prime Minister, emphasizing its potential to bring together leaders from the global media and entertainment industry, social media influencers, and creative professionals.
The WAVES Summit will highlight India’s advancements in animation, gaming, entertainment technology, and both regional and mainstream cinema. PM Modi encouraged participation from across the creative spectrum, stating, “Whether you are a young creator or an established artist, associated with Bollywood or regional cinema, a professional in the TV industry, an expert in animation or gaming, or an innovator in entertainment technology, I invite you to be part of WAVES.”
