Four individuals implicated in the breach of Parliament security have been remanded to police custody for seven days in New Delhi. Sagar Sharma and D Manoranjan, apprehended inside the Lok Sabha, along with Neelam Devi and Amol Shinde, arrested outside Parliament, will undergo detailed questioning, according to investigators.
The security breach occurred yesterday afternoon, leading to the arrest of five individuals. Two men infiltrated the Lok Sabha, releasing thick yellow smoke from smuggled canisters. Sagar Sharma from Lucknow and D Manoranjan from Mysuru, responsible for the smoke bombs, were swiftly apprehended by MPs and security personnel, causing a brief panic.
The remaining two individuals, unable to obtain visitors' passes, were apprehended outside Parliament while shouting slogans and carrying smoke bombs. All four now face charges under stringent anti-terrorism laws.
During the court proceedings today, the police asserted that the incident resembled a terror attack and questioned its motive. They emphasized the need to investigate whether any terrorist organization was involved. The police also suggested that the accused might have smuggled the smoke canisters in their shoes, purchased in Lucknow, while the canisters themselves were procured from Mumbai. The accused were found in possession of pamphlets.
