In response to the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) prediction of thundershowers at most places in Kerala from July 23 to July 26, a holiday has been declared on Tuesday for all schools and colleges in four districts. The affected districts include Wayanad, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Malappuram.

The district collectors announced that professional colleges and schools under ICSE and CBSE boards will also remain closed on Tuesday. This measure comes after all educational institutions in the aforementioned districts were shut on Monday due to the anticipated heavy rainfall.

Moreover, in the taluks of Vellarikundu and Hosdurg within the Kasaragod district, schools will observe a holiday, while colleges will continue with regular operations.

The Kannur University PSC exams, however, will proceed as scheduled, according to an official statement. Nonetheless, students have been advised to avoid water-logged areas for their safety.

In the wake of a brief respite, heavy rains have once again battered various parts of Kerala, with the central and northern districts experiencing the full force of the monsoon.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for nine districts in the state, namely Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kasaragod, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur.

Tragically, three fatalities were reported on Sunday due to rain-related incidents. In Wayanad district, two minor boys, Hadhi and Hashir, lost their lives after presumably falling into a water body while en route to their tuition class. Additionally, a youngster drowned in Thrissur district.

The state disaster management authority has opened a few relief camps in Idukki, Wayanad, and Kasaragod districts, accommodating a total of 38 individuals so far. Several instances of tree felling and damage to houses and other structures have been reported across the state.

The Met department's weather forecast predicts light to heavy rain in several places in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala until July 27. Residents are urged to remain cautious and take necessary precautions during this period of inclement weather.
