BJP Releases Second List of Candidates for Delhi Assembly Elections
BJP announces its second list of 29 candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections. Key names include Kapil Mishra, Harish Khurana, and Karnail Singh. Voting is set for February 5.
As the Delhi Assembly elections approach, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its second list of 29 candidates, bringing its total to 58 nominees for the 70-member assembly. The latest list includes notable figures such as Kapil Mishra, a former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) minister, and Harish Khurana, the son of former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana.
Kapil Mishra, who previously represented the Karawal Nagar constituency while with AAP, has been fielded again from the same seat. Mishra joined the BJP in 2019 and garnered attention in 2020 for his controversial remarks about anti-CAA protest sites. In this election, Mishra replaces sitting MLA Mohan Singh Bisht, signaling a strategic move by the BJP.
Harish Khurana has been nominated from the Moti Nagar constituency, continuing the family legacy of political involvement in Delhi. Meanwhile, BJP leader Karnail Singh is set to contest from Shakur Basti against AAP's former minister Satyendar Jain.
The BJP's list also includes Neelam Krishan Pahalwan, a BJP councillor from the Dichaon Kalan ward who secured the highest number of votes in her ward. Pahalwan will now contest from Najafgarh, a seat previously represented by former AAP minister Kailash Gahlot, who joined the BJP and is contesting from Bijwasan.
With Saturday's announcement, the BJP has named five women in its second list, bringing the total number of female candidates to seven. The first list, released earlier, featured prominent names such as Parvesh Verma, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, and former Congress leader Arvinder Singh Lovely.

Delhi will witness voting on February 5, with the counting of votes scheduled for February 8.
