Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, a well-known Indian shuttler, made history by breaking the previous record for the quickest hit by a male player in badminton.
Satwik broke the previous record, which had been held by Malaysian Tan Boon Heong since May 2013, coming in at an astounding 565 km/h (306.34 mph).
Following their victory in the Indonesia Open Super 1000, Satwik and Chirag Shetty have now accomplished this feat. Even a Formula 1 car’s peak speed of 372.6 km/h was topped by Satwik’s astounding smash speed.
With a stunning speed of 438 km/h (about 272 mph), Malaysia’s Tan Pearly achieved the Guinness World Record for the fastest female badminton hits.
In a statement, the Japanese sports equipment manufacturer Yonex claimed it was “proud to announce that Yonex badminton athletes Satwiksairaj Rankireddy (IND) and Tan Pearly (MAS) have set new Guinness world records title for the fastest male and female badminton hits.”
“Rankireddy broke the record for the first time in more than ten years,” according to Guinness World Records, “since the previous title for the fastest badminton hit was recorded in May 2013.”
On the basis of the speed measurement findings from that day, the world record attempts that were made on April 14, 2023, were confirmed by professional judges from the Guinness World Records.
At a controlled setting, Satwik’s smash took place at the gym of the Yonex facility in Soka, Saitama, Japan.
