Perth: Team India, under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah, achieved a historic 295-run victory over Australia in the first Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Perth’s Optus Stadium. This triumph marks Australia’s first Test defeat at the venue, shattering their unbeaten record at the stadium.
Before this match, Australia had a flawless record in all four Tests played at the stadium, registering wins against India, New Zealand, West Indies, and Pakistan. The Optus Stadium, which has hosted only five Tests since its opening in 2018, witnessed a turnaround from the inaugural Test, where Australia defeated India by 146 runs.
India dominated the match from Day 3, leaving the hosts reeling at 12/3 after setting an imposing target of 534 runs. Star batters Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal laid the foundation for the victory with brilliant centuries in the second innings.
