"AI for India 2.0": Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Launches Free AI Training Program
Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship launches "AI for India 2.0" - a free AI training program to empower Indian youth with cutting-edge AI and Machine Learning skills. In a significant move to equip Indian youth with crucial Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills, the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship has launched the "AI for India 2.0" training program. The initiative was unveiled on the occasion of AI Appreciation Day and celebrated during World Youth Skills Day. The program is a collaborative effort between Skill India and GUVI, an IIT Madras incubated start-up, aiming to empower college students, fresh graduates, and early professionals with AI and Machine Learning knowledge.
The newly launched AI training program is designed to cater to the diverse linguistic landscape of India. It offers Python courses in nine languages, including Hindi, Kannada, and Telugu, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for learners from different regions.
Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, was present at the launch event to inaugurate the program. He emphasized the importance of breaking language barriers in technology education and announced plans to introduce more technology courses in Indian languages. This move is expected to eliminate hurdles for youth, especially those in rural areas, and foster a future-ready tech workforce.
Speaking at the event, Minister Pradhan highlighted India's technological prowess, exemplified by the widespread adoption of digital payments across the country. He commended GUVI's efforts to democratize tech education by offering courses in vernacular languages, reaching individuals from all walks of life.
The "AI for India 2.0" program has been accredited by NCVET (National Council for Vocational Education and Training) and IIT Madras. It seeks to provide frontier AI and Machine Learning skills to the young population, equipping them for promising careers in the rapidly evolving tech industry.
The union minister expressed his vision of making AI education accessible to every corner of the nation. He applauded GUVI's innovative approach in enabling technology learning that transcends language barriers, ensuring that the nation's youth can harness cutting-edge technologies to its fullest potential.
