Mumbai Police Enforces Prohibitory Orders from January 9 to 23
Mumbai Police imposes prohibitory orders from January 9 to 23, restricting gatherings of five or more people to ensure public peace. Exceptions include weddings, funerals, and government activities.
Mumbai Police has imposed prohibitory orders restricting the assembly of five or more people in the city from January 9 to January 23. The restrictions will be in effect from midnight on January 9 and will conclude at midnight on January 23, according to an official statement issued by the police.
The order has been described as a routine measure by police officials, who clarified that there are no specific intelligence inputs prompting the move. However, the directive cites concerns about a potential “breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquillity” in the city.
Under the order, gatherings of five or more individuals, including processions, are prohibited. The use of loudspeakers, amplifiers, musical bands, and the bursting of firecrackers is also restricted during this period.
Exceptions to the order include assemblies related to weddings, funerals, cooperative societies, social associations, and company events, as well as government-organized activities.
Police have urged citizens to comply with the directive to maintain peace and order in the city.
