Mumbai Shock: A couple, needing money for drugs, sold their two kids for Rs 60,000 and Rs 14,000. Check the sad details of this upsetting story
A troubling incident has come to light as the DN Nagar police in Andheri have charged a drug-addicted couple for reportedly selling their two children, both under the age of two, to fund their drug habit. Additionally, two accomplices have been booked for facilitating the sale and purchasing one of the children.
Due to suspicions of a larger child-selling operation, the case has been transferred to the Mumbai Crime Branch for a thorough investigation. Unit-9 of the crime branch has already detained three suspects and is expected to make arrests soon.
The accused individuals in the case are Shabbir Khan, his wife Saniya, Usha Rathod, and Shakeel Makrani.
Shabbir and Saniya, long-time drug addicts, initially resided with Shabbir's sister Rubina Khan in Bandra (East) Bharat Nagar. However, due to constant conflicts arising from their addiction, they moved to Saniya's mother's residence in Versova. After her mother's passing, the family relocated to Nalasopara with their three children.
In a bid to save money, they returned to Rubina's place, where she discovered the absence of two children. Saniya admitted to selling their offspring to raise funds for their drug addiction. In May 2022, Hussain was sold for Rs 60,000 to an unidentified person in Andheri. Last month, the couple sold their other child to Shakeel Makrani for Rs 14,000, according to the police.
Shocked by the revelation, Rubina approached the police. While the newborn girl has been rescued following the detainment of the accused, the whereabouts of the two-year-old boy remain unknown.
