Panvel, Navi Mumbai: 14-Year-Old Girl died by suicide Police Launched Search For 21-year-old partner

Navi Mumbai: A tragic incident in Panvel has prompted a manhunt for a 21-year-old man who is alleged to have been in a relationship with a 14-year-old girl who died by suicide. The police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the man, who has reportedly fled after the incident.

According to the police, the girl, a former Class 8 student, was in a relationship with the man for approximately a year. He worked as housekeeping staff at a private company. The relationship came under scrutiny when the girl’s family discovered it and raised objections, citing her age and the familial ties between the two.

"The man, initially thought to be her cousin, was later identified as her uncle. This revelation intensified opposition from both families, prompting the young man to end the relationship," said an investigating officer.

Last week, the man reportedly informed the girl that he intended to marry someone else, a decision that devastated her. On November 29, the girl was found dead in a local playground, believed to have taken her own life.

Following the girl’s death, the man fled the area, triggering a search operation by Panvel Taluka police. A case has been registered under Section 108 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to abetment to suicide.

Efforts to locate the accused are ongoing, with police deploying teams to track him down. Investigators are also speaking to family members and acquaintances to piece together the events leading up to the tragic incident.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges of protecting vulnerable individuals and addressing the complexities of relationships in sensitive social and familial contexts.
