BluSmart Apologizes After Cab Driver Robs Gurugram Woman At Gunpoint
A BluSmart cab driver in Gurugram robbed a woman and her son at gunpoint for ₹55,000. BluSmart has apologized and vowed to improve safety protocols. The driver has been arrested.
A Gurugram woman's short cab ride turned into a horrifying ordeal when the BluSmart driver held her and her son at gunpoint and forced her to transfer ₹55,000 to his account. The driver, identified as Sonu Singh from Uttar Pradesh, has since been arrested, and BluSmart, the cab aggregator, has expressed deep regret over the incident, assuring passengers that it will enhance its safety measures.
The incident occurred on Friday when the woman and her son took a BluSmart cab from Airia Mall in Gurgaon to her residence in Sector 86. As they neared Sector 83, the driver stopped the vehicle, threatened them with a gun, and demanded the money. He then forced the woman to transfer ₹55,000 via UPI and took her bag before making them exit the vehicle. The driver then sped away.
BluSmart, in a statement, acknowledged the gravity of the situation, emphasizing its commitment to rider safety. Despite the company’s rigorous onboarding processes, including background checks and facial recognition technology for drivers, the company recognized that this incident underscored the need for continuous vigilance and improvement.

"The safety and security of our riders is our utmost priority. We are deeply saddened by this incident," BluSmart said. The company further assured the public that it would be taking immediate steps to strengthen its safety protocols, such as additional driver training and enhanced technology measures.

The police acted swiftly after the report, arresting the driver within 24 hours. Sonu Singh has been remanded in police custody, and authorities are working to recover the stolen money. BluSmart co-founder Anmol Singh Jaggi expressed his personal disappointment, emphasizing that safety is the foundation of the company and that they are committed to making every ride a safe experience for their passengers.
