India to Host Inaugural Women's T20 World Cup for Blind Cricketers in 2025
India will host the inaugural Women's T20 World Cup for Blind Cricketers in 2025. Pakistan will play its matches in Nepal or Sri Lanka due to visa concerns.
India will host the first-ever Women's T20 World Cup for Blind Cricketers in November 2025, as announced by the World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Multan. This historic tournament will see India at the helm, with the possibility of a hybrid model for matches involving Pakistan, due to potential visa issues.
The WBCC’s decision comes after India withdrew from the men’s T20 Blind Cricket World Cup in Pakistan over security concerns. To ensure participation from both India and Pakistan, the Women's T20 World Cup will feature a hybrid model, where Pakistan’s matches will be played at neutral venues, either in Nepal or Sri Lanka.
GK Mahantesh, the president of the Cricket Association of Blind in India, confirmed the arrangements, stating, “The tournament will be hosted in India, but due to potential visa issues, Pakistan’s team will play their matches at a neutral venue in Nepal or Sri Lanka.” This decision was reached after careful consideration, and the hosting rights were awarded to India in 2023.
The inaugural women’s event is expected to bring more visibility and excitement to blind cricket globally, with teams from multiple countries competing for the first time in this format. India’s commitment to hosting the event marks a significant milestone in inclusive sports.
