Alternatively, users can swipe up to lock and record the video hands-free. Once the recording is complete, users can release the button, and the video will be sent.

When recipients open the video messages in a chat, the videos will automatically play on mute. Tapping on the video will activate the sound, allowing users to enjoy the audio content as well.

The new video message feature sets itself apart from the previous method of sending videos on WhatsApp. In the past, users could send videos to contacts or groups, and the videos would be saved to the camera roll. However, with the latest update, videos can now be recorded and sent in real-time without being saved to the camera roll.
