Indian, Chinese Troops Exchange Diwali Sweets After Border Disengagement

New Delhi: Indian and Chinese troops celebrated Diwali by exchanging sweets at five locations along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), including Chushul Maldo and Daulat Beg Oldi in Ladakh, Banchha near Kibutu and Bumla in Arunachal Pradesh, and Nathula in Sikkim. This gesture comes shortly after both nations completed a military disengagement in the Depsang and Demchok areas.

The disengagement, agreed upon last week, involved pulling back troops and dismantling temporary camps in these regions, restoring forces to pre-April 2020 positions. This development was announced just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Russia for the BRICS summit, where he is expected to meet China’s President Xi Jinping for bilateral discussions.
