HP: The state’s chief minister has announced that 16 persons have perished in two different events linked to severe rainfall in Himachal Pradesh in the past 24 hours. Nine persons were murdered in a landslide at a Shiv Temple in the Summer Hill neighborhood of Shimla city, while seven more perished in a cloudburst disaster that occurred in the Solan district last night. Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister, has urged residents to stay inside and keep away from rivers and drains. He also urged residents to avoid landslide-prone regions and recommended visitors to avoid the state while it is experiencing this catastrophe .

Two landslides in Shimla city are believed to have buried 15 to 20 persons, according to Deputy Shimla Commissioner Aditya Negi, according to news agency PTI. The other location is in the Fagli neighborhood, where a number of homes were submerged in muck and snow.

Following the cloudburst at Solan’s Mamligh village of Kandaghat subdivision, six persons were saved. According to news agency ANI, two homes and one cowshed were lost in the flood.

According to Superintendent of Police for Solan Gaurav Singh, the deceased in Solan were named as Harnam (38), Kamal Kishore (35), Hemlata (34), Rahul (14), Neha (12), Golu (8), and Raksha (12).
In a tweet, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed his sympathies and stated that he had instructed the authorities to provide the afflicted families with all necessary support and assistance.

“Devastated to learn of the horrific cloudburst occurrence that claimed 7 innocent lives in Village Jadon, Dhawla Sub-Tehsil, Solan District. My deepest sympathies are with the bereaved families. In this trying moment, we feel your anguish and sadness, the Chief Minister’s Office tweeted.

Only one and a half hours later, the Chief Minister broke the heartbreaking news that nine dead had been discovered among the wreckage of the Shimla temple.

In Shimla, the “Shiv Mandir” at Summer Hill fell as a result of the severe rain. This is distressing news.
Nine corpses have so far been found. The local government is making a concerted effort to remove the rubble in order to rescue any stranded people.

In the previous 48 hours, 21 persons have perished in rain-related situations.
