Mumbai, India: Renowned ghazal and playback singer Pankaj Udhas passed away on February 26, 2024, at the age of 72, following a prolonged illness. The news was confirmed by his daughter, Nayaab Udhas, in a statement posted on her Instagram profile.

Udhas, a recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri award, was known for his soulful voice and captivating performances. He leaves behind a rich legacy of music, having enthralled audiences for over five decades.

"With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness," the family statement read.
