Devendra Fadnavis Takes Oath as Maharashtra Chief Minister for the Third Time
Devendra Fadnavis takes oath as Maharashtra Chief Minister for the third time, ending weeks of suspense. Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers, maintaining the alliance's leadership formula.
Mumbai: Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister on Thursday evening, ending weeks of uncertainty over who would take the top post in the state. The BJP and Shiv Sena had been in talks to finalize the leadership after their alliance, Mahayuti, secured a massive win in last month’s elections.
Eknath Shinde from the Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar of the NCP, both key leaders in the alliance, were sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers, continuing the 1+2 leadership formula. However, the formula now has Fadnavis returning as the Chief Minister, solidifying BJP’s position in the state.
This marks Fadnavis’ third term as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister. He is also a six-time MLA, making him a seasoned leader in state politics.
