Delhi Police Registers FIR Against Rahul Gandhi Over Alleged Assault on BJP MPs During Parliament Scuffle
Rahul Gandhi faces an FIR for allegedly assaulting BJP MPs during a Parliament clash. BJP leaders accuse him of instigating aggression, resulting in injuries to two MPs.
The Delhi Police has registered an FIR against Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of physically assaulting two BJP MPs during a clash in Parliament. The complaint was filed by BJP MPs Hemang Joshi, Anurag Thakur, and Bansuri Swaraj following a heated confrontation between BJP and Congress members on Thursday.
The incident occurred amid protests over Home Minister Amit Shah’s controversial remark in the Rajya Sabha, describing B.R. Ambedkar as "the fashion." The confrontation reportedly escalated into a scuffle, resulting in injuries to BJP MPs Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput. Both MPs are currently receiving treatment at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
In their complaint, BJP leaders alleged that Rahul Gandhi instigated opposition members, leading to physical aggression within Parliament premises. Hemang Joshi claimed Gandhi "forcefully barged" into a peaceful demonstration by National Democratic Alliance (NDA) members, ignoring security instructions.
“Mukesh Rajput sustained a severe injury to the back of his head, and Sarangi was hurt on his forehead," Joshi stated in the complaint.
According to sources, several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) have been invoked against Rahul Gandhi. Legal consultations are reportedly underway as Gandhi is a serving Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha.
The Congress party has strongly denied the allegations, accusing the BJP of politicizing the incident. Party leaders alleged that the scuffle was provoked by BJP members and called for an independent investigation.
This development follows dramatic visuals of chaos inside Parliament, reflecting the deepening divide between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress. The incident underscores the growing tensions between the two camps, with both sides accusing each other of resorting to undemocratic practices.
