Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been remanded to judicial custody until April 15 in connection with allegations of corruption related to the city's liquor policy. Following the conclusion of his custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Kejriwal appeared before Special Judge Kaveri Baweja.
During the court proceedings, the ED requested a 15-day judicial custody for Kejriwal, citing potential further requirements for custody in the future. Additional Solicitor General S. V. Raju, representing the ED, asserted that Kejriwal had been uncooperative and evasive, notably withholding passwords to electronic devices.
Ahead of his court appearance, Kejriwal expressed his disapproval of the Prime Minister's actions, referring to his arrest, stating, "Whatever the prime minister is doing is not good for the country."
Accompanying Kejriwal in court were AAP ministers Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj, and his wife, Sunita Kejriwal.
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court declined to entertain a plea aimed at restraining the Chief Minister from issuing orders while in the custody of the ED in the money laundering case. Instead, the court instructed the central agency to submit a note to the special judge overseeing the excise policy case. The judge was directed to make appropriate rulings in accordance with the law.
The ED clarified to the court that it was not providing any infrastructure or apparatus to Kejriwal for passing orders.
