Rajya Sabha Election Result: BJP Secures 8 Out of 10 Rajya Sabha Seats in Uttar Pradesh

The results for the Rajya Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Himachal Pradesh were declared today, following the completion of voting earlier in the day. Out of the 56 seats contested, 41 candidates have emerged victorious without facing opposition.

In Uttar Pradesh, where elections were held for 10 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) clinched eight seats, while the remaining two were secured by the Samajwadi Party (SP). The counting process faced a delay due to objections raised by the SP, which were addressed by the Election Commission.

Moving to Karnataka, the Congress emerged victorious in all three seats it contested, with candidates Ajay Maken, Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain, and GC Chandrashekhar securing their positions in the Upper House. The BJP secured one seat in the state, won by candidate Narayana Bandage.

In Himachal Pradesh, BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan secured the Rajya Sabha seat in the Congress-ruled state. However, the election process was not without controversy, as allegations of MLA "kidnappings" surfaced, with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu claiming that several MLAs were being influenced by external forces.

This election has significant implications for the composition of the Rajya Sabha, with the BJP consolidating its position in Uttar Pradesh while the Congress and BJP maintain their hold in Karnataka.
