Dwarka, Gujarat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off a two-day visit to his home state on Sunday, February 25th, 2024, by inaugurating the Sudarshan Setu, India's longest cable-stayed bridge, connecting Okha and Beyt Dwarka in Devbhumi Dwarka district. The 2.32 km bridge, built at a cost of around Rs 980 crore, is expected to significantly improve connectivity and accessibility to the island.
Offering Prayers and Addressing Public Gathering:
Following the inauguration, PM Modi visited the revered Dwarkadhish temple to offer prayers and addressed a large gathering near the temple.
AIIMS Inauguration and Project Launches:
Later in the afternoon, PM Modi departed for Rajkot to virtually inaugurate Gujarat's first All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), along with four other AIIMS facilities in other states. He also launched several key projects in Gujarat, including:
- Power generation projects in Kutch
- Ground-breaking ceremony for the new Mundra Panipat crude-oil pipeline project
- A new cardiology hospital in Vadodara
- Doubling of the Rajkot-Surendranagar railway line
Roadshow and Public Engagement:
On Saturday night, PM Modi held a well-received roadshow in Jamnagar, connecting with the local community and supporters.
