Navi Mumbai Police arrested 16 African nationals in a ₹12 crore drug bust, seizing cocaine, MD, and other narcotics during raids at 25 locations. Notices were issued to 73 nationals with expired visas.
In a major crackdown on narcotics, Navi Mumbai Police arrested 16 African nationals during a joint operation carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) and the Economic Offenses Branch (EOB) of the crime branch. The operation, conducted late Thursday night, resulted in the seizure of drugs worth ₹12 crore, officials reported.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Bhausaheb Dhole, the raids targeted 25 locations across Navi Mumbai, leading to the confiscation of a variety of narcotics. Among the seized substances were 2.045 kilograms of cocaine valued at ₹10.22 crore, 633 grams of mephedrone (MD) worth ₹1.48 crore, 58 grams of methylene estimated at ₹11.60 lakh, 23 grams of charas worth ₹3.45 lakh, and 31 grams of ganja valued at ₹6,000.
The Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate revealed that alongside the arrests, notices to leave the country were issued to 73 African nationals whose visas and passports had expired. Authorities are intensifying efforts to curb narcotics trafficking and address visa violations in the region.
This successful operation highlights the commitment of law enforcement to crack down on organized drug networks and enforce immigration regulations, especially in high-risk zones.
