India will participate in the Moscow Format conference on Afghanistan in Kazan to protect its strategic interests and advocate for an inclusive government representing all social groups. The meeting will focus on regional security, stability, and combating terrorism and drug trafficking.
On September 29, India will join the new Moscow Format conference on Afghanistan in the Russian city of Kazan in an effort to protect its strategic interests and further the cause of an inclusive government that upholds the rights of all social groups.
According to the host Russia, the gathering will demand the establishment of an inclusive administration in Kabul that reflects the interests of all segments and ethnic groupings of Afghan society. India will attend the conference, according to ET.
India was one among the participants in the Moscow format in November, and it strongly urged the Taliban to keep its promises to end terrorism and drug trafficking that originated on its soil. Additionally, they had urged the Taliban to vigorously oppose, demolish, and eradicate all terrorist groups by taking more overt action against them.
At that summit, India and certain Central Asian governments reiterated their long-held opinion that it is crucial to create a government in Afghanistan that properly represents the interests of all of the country’s major ethnic and political groupings. The delegates also emphasized the significance of actual interaction with Afghanistan in this respect.
Tajiks, Uzbeks, and Hazaras are ethnic groups that India has long wished were represented in Kabul’s political system.
JP Singh, joint secretary for Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran at the MEA, represented India at the conference. The Taliban were oddly not invited to the meeting. According to authorities, the meeting’s attendees focused on regional security, military-political stability, socioeconomic challenges, and humanitarian concerns as they addressed the state of Afghanistan at the time. The participating nations had also reaffirmed their dedication to an Afghanistan free from the risks of terrorism and drug trafficking, which is peaceful, unified, sovereign, independent, and expanding economically.
According to Miller, a number of the designated people have also plotted or carried out assaults against local officials and media.
He said, "The United States is dedicated to denying financing and resources to these terrorist support networks and fighting the local and global risks they represent. The United States will continue to prevent and disrupt financial and other support for terrorist activities in the Maldives.
Deradicalization in the Indian Ocean Region has been prioritized as one of the goals of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC), which includes representatives from India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Mauritius.
The goals of CSC include protecting key infrastructure and technology, preventing terrorism and radicalization, combatting trafficking and international organized crime, ensuring maritime safety and security, and providing humanitarian aid and disaster relief.
