Communal Clashes in Haryana Spark Tensions in Gurugram; Delhi Tightens Security Measures

In the aftermath of Monday's communal clash in Nuh, Haryana, the repercussions have reached the posh areas of Gurugram, prompting Delhi to tighten security and deploy drones to monitor sensitive zones. Here are 10 key facts on the Haryana violence:

1. Gurugram imposes prohibitory orders after shops and shanties near a residential society were set on fire on Tuesday. To prevent further incidents of arson, the sale of loose petrol or diesel has been banned.

2. Authorities urge citizens to refrain from believing and spreading rumors, and to be cautious with information shared on social media.

3. The violence erupted during a religious procession in Nuh, just 50 km from Delhi, allegedly triggered by an objectionable viral video. A mob pelted the procession with stones, leading over 2,500 participants to seek shelter in a nearby temple.

4. The situation escalated as the evening progressed, with a mosque set on fire after midnight, and mobs going on a rampage, torching and vandalizing more than a hundred vehicles in Nuh and neighboring Gurugram.

5. Right-wing organizations Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal have organized protest marches in various parts of Delhi, leading to traffic jams in the city and its surroundings.

6. Social media videos show Bajrang Dal supporters reciting Hanuman Chalisa near Nirman Vihar Metro Station. Later, they attempted to block Vikas Marg but were dispersed by the police.

7. The Supreme Court has advised Delhi authorities to deploy heavy forces and install CCTVs to prevent any further escalation of violence.

8. The clashes resulted in the deaths of at least six people, including two police personnel. The incident has raised concerns about the role of social media posts and alleged inaction by the authorities.

9. A Special Investigation Team has been set up to probe the cases of communal violence and the involvement of Bajrang Dal member Monu Manesar.

10. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar suspects a "conspiracy" behind the clashes and has described the incident as "unfortunate." He claims that certain individuals planned an attack on the yatra participants and the police, leading to violence in multiple locations.

The situation remains tense, with authorities closely monitoring the region to prevent any further escalation of violence and restore peace.
