The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its highly anticipated manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, emphasizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dedication to uplifting the marginalized segments of society – the poor, the youth, farmers, and women. Against the backdrop of a bust of BR Ambedkar and the Indian Constitution, Prime Minister Modi, along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and BJP chief JP Nadda, launched the party's manifesto at the BJP headquarters in Delhi earlier today.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the manifesto is centered around four pillars of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) – women empowerment, youth empowerment, agriculture, and poverty alleviation. He emphasized its focus on enhancing the "dignity of life" and the "quality of life", along with ensuring ample opportunities of both quantity and quality. Prime Minister Modi also announced the government's commitment to providing piped gas to every household and supplying free electricity through solar power.
The manifesto extends the Centre's free ration scheme by five years and promises to bolster self-reliance in the production of essential food items like pulses, edible oils, and vegetables to stabilize prices and safeguard the nutritional needs of the underprivileged. Additionally, it pledges to expand initiatives like the Ayushman Bharat scheme and the PM Awas Yojana, while ensuring access to clean drinking water for every household.
During the media address, Mr. Nadda highlighted the BJP government's achievements over the past decade, reaffirming the party's slogan of 'Modi ki guarantee', which assures the fulfillment of all promises made.
In response to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the BJP chief commended the decisive actions taken by the Modi government, which facilitated India's recovery. He noted India's swift development of two vaccines and the distribution of over 220 crore doses within nine months, including assistance to other countries in accessing vaccines.
Following Mr. Nadda's address, Defence Minister Singh, who also chaired the 27-member committee responsible for drafting the manifesto, reiterated the BJP's commitment to fulfilling its pledges. He cited significant accomplishments such as the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the passage of the women's reservation Bill, and the construction of the Ayodhya Ram Temple.
Singh emphasized that the BJP's manifesto, crafted from 15 lakh suggestions across the nation, outlines a roadmap for a developed India while prioritizing social justice. He concluded by asserting that Modi's guarantee is held in high regard, making the BJP manifesto the gold standard for political parties worldwide.
