Donald Trump Claims Google CEO Sundar Pichai Praised His McDonald's Visit as a Major Hit
Donald Trump alleges that Google CEO Sundar Pichai called him to commend his recent visit to McDonald's, stating it generated significant attention on Google. During the Joe Rogan podcast, Trump also criticized Vice President Kamala Harris, claiming his brief stint at the fast-food chain surpassed her experience. This follows his accusations that Google skews search results against him.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump recently claimed that Google CEO Sundar Pichai called him to commend his visit to McDonald's. During an appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast, Trump recounted the conversation, saying, “I did McDonald's last week and I actually got a call from Sundar. He said, ‘This is the biggest thing we've had in years.’”
Trump elaborated that Pichai remarked, “This McDonald's thing, I want to tell you, it's one of the biggest things we've ever had on Google. It just hit.”
The former president's visit to McDonald's in Pennsylvania served as more than just a campaign stop; it was a strategic move intended to undermine his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump claimed to have worked "15 minutes more than her" at the fast-food chain, referencing her previous comments about her experience there as a young person. He asserted, “She lied about McDonald's. I've worked here for 15 minutes, which is 15 minutes more than she worked here.”
This statement comes on the heels of Trump’s allegations that Google has manipulated search results to obscure positive information about him. He has previously expressed his concerns about perceived bias in Google search results, claiming that his outreach to Sundar Pichai was part of his efforts to address these issues.
At a recent event organized by the Economic Club of Chicago, Trump told Bloomberg News’ editor-in-chief, John Micklethwait, that he contacted Pichai to discuss his grievances about Google search results associated with his name. He stated, “I'm getting a lot of good stories lately, but you don't find them in Google.”
Trump accused Google of being biased, claiming that out of numerous positive stories about him, only negative ones appear in search results. “I think it's a whole rigged deal. I think Google's rigged just like our government is rigged,” he asserted.
