Amazon Prime Video to Introduce Password Sharing Restrictions in India from 2025
Amazon Prime Video will limit account sharing in India from January 2025, allowing access on five devices with a maximum of two TVs. Subscribers can manage devices or purchase additional memberships.
Amazon Prime Video will enforce stricter password-sharing rules in India starting January 2025, limiting account access to five devices, including a maximum of two TVs. The new policy marks a shift in the streaming platform's approach to managing shared accounts.
An email sent to subscribers explained the updated terms: "As part of your Prime membership, you and your household are entitled to enjoy Prime Video on up to five devices. Starting January 2025, this will include a limit of two TVs. You can manage your devices through the Settings page or purchase another Prime membership for additional device access."
Currently, Amazon Prime Video allows users to log in to up to 10 devices without sub-limits. The upcoming restrictions, particularly the cap on TVs, may impact families or shared households with multiple TVs.
2025: A Year of Change for Amazon Prime Subscribers
The device limit isn't the only change coming in 2025. Amazon has already announced plans to introduce advertisements during movies and TV shows for existing Prime subscribers. While the company has promised fewer ads compared to traditional television and other streaming platforms, an ad-free tier will soon be available for Indian users at an additional cost.
Amazon Prime Subscription Pricing in India
