New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday lauded the people of Maharashtra for delivering what he described as a "historic verdict," firmly rejecting the opposition’s negative politics. Addressing BJP workers at the party headquarters, the Prime Minister said the results underscored the unity and stability sought by voters across the state.
"The election in Maharashtra has shown the power of unity, with the mantra of 'Ek hai toh safe hai' (Unity ensures safety) resonating across the country," PM Modi said to a cheering crowd.
Maharashtra has now joined Goa, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh in choosing the BJP for a third consecutive term, marking it as the sixth state to do so, he added.
In a sharp critique of the Congress party, the Prime Minister accused it of failing to adapt to the changing mood of the nation. "The voter wants stability and stands firmly with a 'nation first' sentiment. The Congress neither understands this reality nor wants to," he remarked.
PM Modi alleged that the Congress relied on alliances due to its inability to win elections independently, only to later betray its partners. "In Uttar Pradesh, its former allies were fortunate to part ways with it, or they too would have faced ruin," he said.
The Prime Minister also criticized the opposition for promoting divisive politics based on caste and religion, including talks of a "second constitution" and revisiting Article 370, which he said the voters had firmly rejected.
BJP president JP Nadda, who was also present, accused the opposition of attempting to sabotage the people's mandate but credited the party's win to its commitment to unity and progress.
The Maharashtra verdict, PM Modi emphasized, is a testament to the people's trust in the BJP and a call for continued focus on stability and development.
