Nuh Violence Update: Two dead, 10 Police Officers Injured; 20 CAPF Companies to Be Deployed by Centre

On July 31, a violent clash erupted between two groups during the 'Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra' conducted by Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Haryana's Nuh district. Tragically, one person was declared dead at the Shaheed Hassan Khan Mewat hospital, and at least twelve others, including four police officers, sustained injuries and were rushed to the same hospital.

The situation escalated to such an extent that the Central government ordered the deployment of 20 companies (approximately 2,000 personnel) of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), including CRPF, BSF, ITBP, and 12 units of Rapid Action Force (RAF), to maintain law and order in Nuh. To contain the unrest, the Haryana state government imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code in the district.

The clash resulted in the vandalization of a dozen shops and four vehicles on the route from Sohna Chowk to Nuh, allegedly by Bajrang Dal members. In response to the incident, the Gurgaon police issued a statement detailing the serious injuries sustained by their personnel during the stone-pelting incident.

District Magistrate Nishant Yadav assured that a paramilitary force has been deployed in the area, and flag marches will be conducted. Authorities will also assess the damage to vehicles and shops overnight.

In an effort to restore peace and prevent further incidents, members of Bajrang Dal gathered at Sohna Chowk with lathis and iron rods, but the police intervened to disperse the crowd.

As a precautionary measure, all private and government educational institutions in Palwal will remain closed on the following day to avoid any potential escalation of communal tension in Nuh.

While the situation remains tense, the district ASP of Nuh expressed that the situation is under control, and action will be taken against those found guilty. The police are analyzing available videos to identify and arrest the perpetrators.

This unfortunate incident has drawn Chief Minister M L Khattar's attention, and he has appealed to the public to maintain peace and harmony. He assured that those responsible for the violence will be held accountable.

As the authorities continue to manage the situation, stay tuned for further updates on the developing events in Nuh
