Johannesburg: In a commanding display of cricket, India thrashed South Africa by 135 runs in the fourth and final T20I at The Wanderers Stadium, sealing the series 3-1. The highlight of the match was an extraordinary batting performance by Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma, both scoring centuries and setting a record-breaking 210-run partnership for the second wicket.
After winning the toss, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav elected to bat. Openers struggled to get going, but Samson (120* off 47) and Tilak (109* off 56) took charge, decimating the South African bowling attack. Their fireworks propelled India to a mammoth 284/2 in 20 overs. Notably, Sanju Samson etched his name in the record books by becoming the first batter in T20I history to score three centuries in a calendar year.
Chasing 285, South Africa crumbled under pressure, managing only 148 runs in 18.2 overs. Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh was sensational, swinging the ball both ways and reducing the hosts to a dismal 10/4 within the first three overs. Despite a brief recovery led by David Miller (47) and Tristan Stubbs (39), the Proteas never looked in contention.
Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi wrapped up the innings efficiently, while Arshdeep's fiery opening spell set the tone for the visitors. All six Indian bowlers picked up wickets, showcasing a complete team effort.
The win marked a clinical performance from India, with their bowlers complementing the batting fireworks. Arshdeep Singh’s early breakthroughs and the disciplined bowling attack ensured that South Africa never recovered.
With this dominant victory, India demonstrated their depth in both batting and bowling, closing the series on a high note and reinforcing their T20I dominance on foreign soil.
