Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru detained five suspected terrorists for plotting strikes around the city. Jahid, Sohail, Umar, Mudasir, and Junaid were among those detained.
According to the Bengaluru Police Commissioner, one of the defendants is associated with the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Their cell phones were also taken, along with a number of explosive ingredients and other goods.
The CCB was looking for five more people who were allegedly engaged in the planning as more investigations were being conducted.
The five suspects who were detained, according to the police, were also involved in a 2017 murder investigation.
They were detained in Bangalore Central Jail, where they interacted with several terrorists and got explosives handling instruction.
The CCB was informed of the accused’s plot to detonate bombs around the city, which led to their arrest.
The Bengaluru Police later revealed during a news conference that one of the apprehended suspects had already served 18 months in prison for a 2017 murder case. He interacted with some criminals when he was in jail.
B Dayananda, the police commissioner of Bengaluru, spoke to the media and stated, “The serial blasts accused is linked to terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.”
“The CCB was successful in finding those who intended to vandalize Bangaluru City.”
Five suspects have been detained. They were found to have seven handguns, many live rounds, a walkie-talkie, and other equipment, he claimed.
“One of the accused, who is absconding, provided these weapons to those arrested to carry out certain subversive activities,” he continued.
Basavaraj Bommai, a former chief minister of Karnataka, supported the CCB and praised the team’s work.
The chief minister added that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) should be given the matter.
Additionally criticizing the state’s current Congress administration, Bommai said that law and order had completely collapsed in the state.
A big conspiracy exists. They intended to do many bombings in Bengaluru. According to Bommai, the NIA should be given control of this matter.
