Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi Feature in AAP's 4th Candidate List for Delhi Assembly Elections

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections from his current constituency, New Delhi, according to the fourth list of candidates released by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today. Senior leaders, including Atishi (Kalkaji), Saurabh Bharadwaj (Greater Kailash), and Gopal Rai (Babarpur), will also defend their existing constituencies.

With the release of this fourth and final list, AAP has announced candidates for all 70 Assembly seats in Delhi. Shortly after the announcement, Mr. Kejriwal expressed confidence in his party's preparedness and vision.

"The BJP is invisible. They lack a Chief Ministerial candidate, a team, a plan, or a vision for Delhi. Their only agenda is 'remove Kejriwal.' When asked what they have achieved in five years, their only response is that they abused Kejriwal," said Mr. Kejriwal.

He further stated that AAP has a proven track record of developmental work in Delhi over the past decade and a team of educated leaders ready to deliver. "Delhi residents will vote for those who work, not those who indulge in baseless criticism," he added.

By fielding Mr. Kejriwal, Ms. Atishi, and other top leaders from their current seats, AAP appears to have countered the BJP's criticism. Recently, BJP Delhi chief Virendra Sachdeva alleged that several AAP MLAs were reluctant to contest due to fear of defeat, citing the example of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who shifted from Patparganj to Jangpura.

"(Former) Deputy Chief Minister Sisodia has fled due to fear. Kejriwal and Atishi will flee too," Mr. Sachdeva had remarked. AAP's move, however, sends a strong signal of confidence in its leaders and their ability to retain their constituencies.
