PM Modi To Participate in National Handloom Day Celebration on August 7

Celebrating the 9th National Handloom Day on August 7th, the nation eagerly anticipates a rich tapestry of culture and craftsmanship. This special day honors the timeless artistry of handwoven wonders that have been an integral part of our heritage. The event will take place at the Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan, Delhi, with the esteemed presence of our Prime Minister.

The National Handloom Day, initiated on August 7, 2015, holds significance as it pays tribute to the Swadeshi Movement, which began on the same day in 1905, advocating for indigenous industries, particularly handloom weavers. Prime Minister Modi has consistently supported and encouraged artists and craftsmen, recognizing their vital role in preserving our nation's rich creative legacy.

During the event, the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will unveil an online portal showcasing a library of textiles and crafts. Additionally, more than 3,000 weavers, artisans, and stakeholders from the textile and MSME sectors will participate, bringing together various handloom clusters from across India, NIFT campuses, Weaver Service Centers, campuses of the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology, the National Handloom Development Corporation, the Handloom Export Promotion Council, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), and state handloom offices.

This year's National Handloom Day celebration promises to be a vibrant amalgamation of tradition and innovation, commemorating the time-honored craftsmanship that continues to thrive. As the Prime Minister graces the occasion, it reinforces the government's commitment to supporting the artisans who contribute to India's rich heritage and cultural heritage.
