In an unexpected turn of events, seasoned politician Kirit Somaiya demanded a quick and comprehensive probe in a blistering letter to former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, setting up a political storm.
The veracity of a video of him that went viral after being shown on a Marathi news station on Monday night was questioned by BJP leader Kirit Somaiya in a letter he sent to Maharashtra home minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday. The BJP politician and former MP was seen in a “compromising position” in the so-called film.
Somaiya wrote in a tweet early on Tuesday, “A video clip of me was broadcast on a news station. Claimed that I had harassed several women, and there were numerous videos of this, as well as complaints made against me. Never have I mistreated a lady. Ask @Dev_Fadnavis to look into these claims and confirm the legitimacy of the videos.

Shiv Sena (UBT) and Sharad Pawar-led NCP leaders reacted angrily to the alleged video, criticizing the leader who said there were several more tapes of the leaders and that the one that was shown on the news channel was just one of them.
The Maharashtra government’s Monsoon session began on Monday and is now in session.
Somaiya is renowned for investigating complaints made against opposition party leaders and occasionally making announcements about taking action against them on social media channels where he is active.
In any case, once several leaders, like Hasan Mushrif of the NCP, whom he had previously complained about, joined the state’s BJP-Shiv Sena administration, Somaiya chose to maintain a low profile.
